What to do this Weekend

What To Do This Weekend 7.23-7.25

Friday, July 23rd

Taste Terre Haute is inspired by similar events in larger cities such as Devour Downtown in Indianapolis. Taste Terre Haute is featured for two weeks each July. The event highlights the variety of restaurants in West Central Indiana and showcases their unique offerings.

After 2020, restaurants need our support, making the mission of Taste Terre Haute more important than ever before.

The concept is simple, local restaurants will feature a deal, special menu or additional menu item during Taste Terre Haute, July 18-31.

Click around at the website to learn more about each of the restaurants and special offerings.

Since lead-singer man Mike Love penned the lyrics to The Beach Boys’ first hit, “Surfin’” (1961), dozens of the bands chart toppers have become eternal anthems of American youth: “Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Barbara Ann,” “Good Vibrations,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Rock and Roll Music” and “Kokomo.” The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide and have received more than 33 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers where also honored at the 2001 Grammy Awards with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
With more than five decades of touring under their belts, The Beach Boys have performed more concerts than any major rock band in history. The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love, who, along with

Picture it….a warm summer night, a casual dress code, cold beverages being served, making your way around the bases to taste different food from 100+ local leaders, an amazing silent and live auction, live entertainment and a surprise ending that will wrap this event up with a bang.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 24 and make plans to join us in the Field of Dreams at the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods softball complex to support STEM education for the children in the Wabash Valley.
Be sure to help your favorite chef and team take home the night’s highest honor and bragging rights by tipping them. Tips can be made online and at the event. Remember, this is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Your support makes a HUGE difference.
The team that brings in the most total tips will be crowned the World Series Winner.
The top tip winner on each team will be recognized as a member of the THCM Field of Dreams All Star Team.
The one chef that raises the most money will be the THCM MVP and receive the top award and recognition.
Funds raised at the event support the Museum in our mission to “enrich our children’s lives through the exploration of science and technology.” These important funds will not only help the Museum expand our exhibits and programs, but they will also support scholarship programs that provide free and reduced admission and program fees to children, families, and school groups that are in need.
As with many businesses and nonprofits, 2020 was a rough year for the Museum. We lost over half of our operating revenue from our closure and reduced visits, membership sales, facility rentals and birthday parties. The funds raised by this event will truly help bridge our financial gap this year until our guest and membership numbers return.
We can’t wait to see you at the ballfield this summer!
