Opening Reception for Todd Gray: Pop Geometry exhibition at the Swope Art Museum.
Refreshments, interactive activity and a cash bar.
6:00 PM Talk Dr. William Ganis from ISU’s Department of Art and Design will introduce concepts of appropriation used in contemporary art and will discuss the Pop imagery that artist Todd Grey wields in the current Swope exhibition of his sculptures.
Todd Gray was born the same year as Pop Art–the term coined in 1962 at the Museum of Modern Art’s Symposium on Pop Art. His latest body of work encompasses a range of sculptural series, all of which combine classic images of American Pop art with the pop art of today: Cartoons, super heroes, hashtags, and emojis. Exhibition organized through Katherine. T. Carter & Associates.
