What To Do This Weekend 3.23-3.25

We hope everyone had a safe and fun weekend celebrating the life of Saint Patrick.  The weekend is just two sleeps away and Friday couldn’t be here fast enough.  We’ve rounded up some fun activities in the surrounding area that are sure to help your liver recover from all that green beer.

Friday, March 23rd

The Little Mermaid Jr. will be put on by The Children’s Theatre of Terre Haute all weekend at the Indiana Theater.  The show begins Friday & Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 3pm.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15.

This is Us will be performing live at the Velvet Room.  The Velvet Room is located at the Terre Haute Brewing Company.  The show begins at 8pm, so come early to grab some dinner and a seat!Kick off your weekend right with Do317 and the Fuel. Take advantage of $3 beer and soft drinks, $1 hot dogs, and special $7 t-shirts. Indy Fuel vs Fort Wayne Komets at 7:35pm. Tickets can be purchased HERE.The Swope Art Museum’s free program Artists on Art, featuring local artists’ perspectives on works of art in the Swope’s collection, continues Friday, March 23 at 6 pm. In these informal talks, the audience hears directly from artists about works that intrigue them and have fed their own creativity. This month’s speaker is sculptor and glass artist Anna Lee Chalos-McAleese, who will discuss Richard Hunt’s steel sculpture “Poised and Extended Forms.” The 30-minute talk will be followed by a dialogue with the audience and an opportunity to view Hunt’s sculpture.Evansville you asked for it, and now its here! Chelsey’s Fit Factory is hosting a unique dance experience. You’ll get a chance to learn original choreography to your favorite Beyonce’ hits! Come get your Friday workout in and feel sexy while doing it:) Sahwneis “Nizz”  is offering a Hip Hop in Heels Dance Workshop to Beyonce.  It’s $10 per class.  This Friday’s class is from 6-7pm.

When pathologically shy Charlie accompanies his friend, Froggy, to a rural fishing lodge, Froggy announces to the lodge owner that Charlie is from an exotic country and speaks no English. The Community Theatre is putting on the play, The Foreigner this weekend.  Friday & Saturday the show begins at 8pm, Sunday at 2:30pm.

Saturday, March 24th

Grab your hard hat and head on down to the Wabash River.  This Saturday from 10an-2pm join the RiverFront Lofts Group Hard Hat Tour.  I visited the lofts when they were in the beginning stages and I was jealous that I didn’t have apartments this nice when I was living in one.  I can’t wait to see how far they have come since I last saw the apartments back in the Fall.Join the Terre Haute Brewing Company for another series of Yoga + Beer! From 11am-12pm join other’s in a yoga class located in the Velvet Room and enjoy a free beer afterwards. (Doors open at 10:30). $10 per person. Don’t Forget to Bring a friend and a mat!It’s that time of year again, when everyone lugs there children to Deming Park to run around for free Candy.  The Easter Egg Hunt  is this Saturday from 2-3pm.  I highly suggest staying away from Ohio Blvd and Fruitridge Ave. during that time.  Ages 2-4 will be split into smaller groups for hunts. Hunts will begin at 2:00 pm.Ages 5-7 & 8-10 will begin their hunt at 2:30 pm.Come “wine” down at The Sycamore Winery throughout the winter months with live music, food, Big Leaf beer, and wine.

These two are by far my favorite duo to listen to.  I plan on stopping by this event for amazing music and wine.

Live from the Velvet Room at the Terre Haute Brewing Company this Saturday from 9om-12am.  The Big O’s have been playing music in Terre Haute for 30 years. The band puts their own spin on many genres of new and old music ranging from R&B to Classic Rock to Blues. The band consists of Roger Osburn on bass and vocals, Kevin Hood on Drums and Percussion, and Mike Ames on Guitar and vocals.March into Spring with Ross David & WaterTower Estates. Singer songwriter, Ross David, will be performing at WaterTower Estates this Friday from 6-8pm!! Ross may have grown up here in Terre Haute but he has been traveling and performing all over the United States and all the way to Spain! Join Angela at Charm School to create this fun spring watercolor painting with flowers. They have performed over 100 original absurdist sketch shows in nine countries since 2010 .They DO NOT poke fun at Asperger’s and did not form to teach or to prove that autistic people can be funny.
They formed for the same reason anyone does comedy: To make you laugh! Expect silly deadpan sketches that appeal to Aspies and sympathetic others alike. The show is from 7:30-9:30pm and you can get your tickets HERE.If you write songs (lyrics and/or music), want to become a better songwriter, and want to meet other local songwriters, this event may be for you. The Vigo County Public Library is hosting a Songwriter’s Circle from 1-3pm.
