Winter Wonderland Walk
December 9th – December 12, 5-9pm
Douglas Hart Nature Center in Mattoon, Illinois.
Enjoy the crisp December air and take a stroll through our Winter Wonderland Walk! Trimmed with beautiful pine trees donated by Hager Tree Farm, the front trail near the visitor center is filled with iconic scenes from Christmas classes like Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Charlie Brown, and more.
We are asking patrons to wear masks. (masks may be removed for photo opportunities on the trail).
Stop at our welcome table after your walk for a holiday treat. Refreshments are sponsored by the Illinois Clean Energy Foundation.
Registration is not required, come any time.

Santa’s Drive-Thru Workshop
Champaign County Fair in Urbana, IL
Just like the programs and services at Crisis Nursery, this new event is FREE and open for the entire community, December 11th – 13th.
 6:30-8:30pm
 
Families will have the opportunity to drive through with their little ones, grab a photo with Santa, and visit our giving tree. Santa’s helpers have even hidden golden tickets for a lucky few to find throughout the weekend!
 

Saturday, December 12th

ALL ABOARD THE POLAR EXPRESS!  
Cache Lauren: The Salon is hosting a Polar Express Event this Saturday.
 
Although it won’t be an actual train, they are inviting boys and girls, ages 2 years – 12 years old, to their Polar Express Event!
As you enter, each child will receive:
– a golden ticket, from our conductor, to enter our “train.”
– a sugar cookie to decorate with icing & sprinkles
– a cup of hot chocolate
– hair spray painted green & red
– a reading of the Polar Express by Mrs. Claus
– & a gift from Santa 
 
They ask all kids to come in their pajamas!
Your ticket will say 15 minutes, but each child will be in each setting for 15 minutes. Please allot about 45 minutes with us!

All we want want for Christmas is to see you in Greencastle on December 12th for Jingle Jam 5K! A custom Christmas bib, Jingle Jam t-shirt and even a Hot Chocolate Bar await you! Join them for a Christmas celebration you won’t forget!

Santa is coming to the park in Greencastle this year! Keeping their tradition alive, but changing locations, Main Street Greencastle and Jack’s Trash Service are bringing Santa to the park instead of the courthouse in 2020.
Along with the normal cookies and hot chocolate you can pick up a personal craft bag this year. Filled with a create your own ornament project and a special treat for parents also!

Join Crimson Stables in Bloomington for their second annual Holidays at Crimson event Saturday, December 12th from 2:00-4:00 PM! They are excited to host this fun and unique event for the second year in a row. Of course, this year will look a little different – masks will be required by all participants at all times and social distancing rules will be enforced. At this years event, they will be offering:
Photos with one of their adorable mini horses
Pony rides in their indoor arena
Cookies and hot chocolate
Ornament decorating crafts
PLUS this year they are excited to introduce a stall decorating contest to the event!
Pricing will be admission per person plus a small fee per activity. Tickets for admission and activities can be purchased online or on the day of the event.

Get in the holiday spirit at Garfield Park this winter season! Join them for a socially distanced Holly Jolly drive thru at the Burrello Family Center.
– Enjoy festive holiday tunes by our friends from Arts with a Purpose.
– Wave hello to Santa’s elves from the Arts Center as they pass out a delightful craft.
– Pick up your reindeer food from the Conservatory
– Get your packet of hot cocoa from Frosty’s friends.
Even though Santa can’t make it this year, but his friends from the North Pole will be sure to spread holiday cheer! Kids are encouraged to write a letter to Santa and drop it off at Santa’s mailbox at check-in. Santa’s elves will deliver them to the North Pole!

Participants will not leave their vehicles as they drive through the event. All passengers in the car need to wear face masks.

Start your holiday with live Reindeer. Join Wonderlabs in Bloomington during one of six, timed, afternoon ticket blocks (12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30) for a short presentation with live reindeer. This event is outdoors, socially distanced, and wheelchair accessible. Chairs can be provided upon request / as needed. Masks are required.
Ticket prices: $5 Non-Member / $3 Member
Ticket price does not include admission to the museum. Museum bathrooms are not available to outdoor visitors. Purchased tickets are only good for reserved time slot. Due to COVID safety capacity numbers, we are unable to be flexible with timed attendance. Please have print or digital tickets to show at gate.

Sunday, December 13th

Jingle Bell Run is the original festive 5K with a purpose: to raise money for a cure. This year, we’re stepping up our game with FREE passes to the Indiana State Fairgrounds Drive-Through Holiday Light Show! You can still get decked out and be festive, while raising funds and awareness to cure America’s #1 cause of disability during the 2020 Virtual Jingle Bell Run! The Jingle Bell Run will feature run tracking, a leaderboard, prizes, and social media components. The event culminates in the“Jingle Bell Drive” to enjoy the Holiday light show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. 
The funds raised are crucial to advance arthritis research—to discover new treatments, and a cure, faster than ever.
The Arthritis Foundation is boldly pursuing a cure for America’s #1 cause of disability, while championing the fight against arthritis with life-changing resources, science, advocacy and community connections.

Looking for an outdoor family activity? Book your private tour of the White Violet Center at St Mary of the Woods farm and meet their friendly, fuzzy alpacas. This 45-minute experiences will give you a great overview of how our little farm operates. Much of the tour will feature time with our alpaca herd as Farmer Tara, your tour leader, introduces you to these amazing animals.
$10 per person. Children 3 & under are free. Tours are limited to groups of no more than 10 people. Groups should consist of people in your immediate circle. Masks are required. Dress warmly.
