What to do this Weekend

What To Do This Week 7.2.20-7.8.20

Thursday, July 2nd

Are you annoyed by summertime insects? They really bug us, too! Join District 6 Market for their next potting party on July 2, when we will make “Don’t bug me planters,” containing plants known to have insect repelling properties. At the end of class, participants will take their planter home to enjoy summertime porch-sitting with less pests!

Little Bear Coffee Company will be set up to sell their delicious drinks & tasty treats!

Each class size is limited to 20 participants (1 person/ticket) & the cost is $35. Tickets must be purchased prior to the class & are available at www.district6market.com

Class 1 is from 6:00-7:00 PM.
Class 2 is from 7:30-8:30 PM.

The $35 fee for this hands-on workshop includes: planter, mulch, soil, plants, and instruction. We hope to see you July 2!

Sponsors met on June 1st and have decided to proceed with the 2020 fireworks display at Raccoon State Recreation Area. The fireworks are scheduled for Saturday July 4th at dusk. This is the current date established for the beginning of Stage 5 for Governor Holcomb’s Indiana Back on Track initiative. It is highly recommended that all visitors and attendees adhere to social distancing guidelines. Those 65 and over with high risk medical conditions should remain cautious and consider the risk associated with gatherings of larger crowds. We will reevaluate this decision should there be any changes that extend the restrictions on public gatherings or changes in guidance provided through the CDC. All those visiting should plan to have products available to them and their family members for protections as desired; including hand sanitizer and masks.

We are looking forward to providing our community and visitors with a spectacular show. The fireworks funding primarily comes from donations collected at the main gate prior to the show and a generous contribution annually from the Raccoon Lake/Union Township Homeowners Association. In 2019, our revenue during collections was nearly 35% below years past collections. We would highly encourage those that attend by boat, enjoy from the dam, or from private docks and seawalls to help join in on funding the next big show. Message us and we can provide you details on how to make a donation or you can do so online via PayPal at [email protected] If you donate through PayPal, please provide us a memo that the donation is for the fireworks fund.Sullivan County Park and Lake are hosting a Fireworks Over the Lake Freedom Festival.
