Say CHEESE! Charlie’s Pub & Grub has been serving Tweety-loving fanatics since the early 30’s and isn’t stopping anytime soon. It’s the perfect spot to drink a beer, catch up with friends, shoot some pool, & enjoy a great meal. If you’ve never been or haven’t stopped by in a while, the bar has had some exciting new additions that will keep you coming back for more. 
Taste Terre Haute will run for two weeks; July 16th-29th. The event will highlight a variety of restaurants in the Wabash Valley and showcase their unique offerings. Every participant will be asked to offer a “deal” aka their own “taste” to diners, whether that is a special menu, free dessert, specialty cocktail, percentage off a meal; the specifics are up to each individual restaurant. Charlies Pub & Grub is a member of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce and for Taste of Terre Haute they are offering a dinner special.
Charlie’s Pub & Grub special is a Dinner for Two Menu for $25.00. This includes 1 shareable appetizer (Mozzarella Sticks, Jalapeno Snappers, or Charlie’s Chips). I love all things fried & cheesy and these three options hit the spot. If you want something with a little kick the Jalapeno Snappers offer a little spice with some cream cheese, and are perfect to wash down with their giant selection of craft beers. A little birdy told me that they tapped some Zombie Dust this past weekend, so don’t miss out!
The dinner special also includes 2 entrees (Tweety with Cheese, Breaded Tenderloin, Turkey Reuben, & Philly Cheese Steak). The Tweety is their famous burger & it is one of my favorite’s in town. In 1972, Morris & Betty Tweedy sold the tavern to Charlie & Lois Crispin. Charlie’s started serving the “Tweety Burger” to honor Morris; the tradition still continues today. 
Charlie’s Pub & Grub features different themed Tweety’s each month and this month’s feature is The Red Devil Tweety. They take a 1/2 pound Tweety and top it with ghost pepper cheese, deep fried banana peppers, & their new Atomic wing sauce. This Tweety is sure to leave you thirsty! Charlie’s also now carries the Impossible Burger for all you vegan’s out there, it is the perfect substitute for a juicy slab of beef & it’s made from plants. 
The dinner special offered also includes 2 sides (Fries, Chips, Tots, Cottage Cheese, Cole Slaw, or a Garden Salad). Don’t forget to ask for a side of cheese, because we all love dunking our fried taters in CHEESE! 
We can’t finish a meal without some dessert! Charlie’s dinner special includes 1 dessert to share with their options being Salted Caramel Pretzel Bites or a Cookie Sundae. You can’t go wrong with either one because they were both insanely delicious! 
After Charlie’s was purchased by Charlie & Lois Crispin they gave it the name “Charlie’s Hide-a-way until they sold it to Kevin & Gail O’Laughlin in 1992. To honor Charlie, the name stayed the same. Improvements have been made over the years and now the restaurant has been passed down to another generation. Cheyne & Nikki O’Laughlin are the current owners and are still offering quality food, drink, & fun while consistently supporting the community we all live in. The restaurant has updated it’s patio into an amazing beer garden with outdoor pool tables, plenty of covered seating, a stage for live music & corn hole. This Saturday from 8-11pm Mathew James Westerfield will be performing on their beer garden stage, so swing by and grab a beer & Tweety and ENJOY!
