A Look At: The Poplar Pub

There is a new hangout in town and it is calling all you Eastsiders to come out and play! The Poplar Pub is a brand new bar serving up cold drinks and delicious grub!Denise Rowlett former owner of the Terminal Sports Bar, and Rob Steidel former partner of the Dawg House & Brickhouse Dueling Piano Bar have joined forces to bring you a business that was much needed on the East side of town. The Poplar Pub is located in the Meadows Shopping Center off of Poplar Street.  The pub features a custom horse-shoe shaped bar that seats 22, a triangle stage, plenty of tables, plus room for dancing. The pub also has many TV’s making it a great spot to watch sports.
The Poplar Pub also has a full menu of bites that you can enjoy while you are there.  Brittany & I got a chance to taste a little bit of everything off of the menu and it’s fair to say we will definitely be a few of their regulars. I am proud to say that I’ve already been 5 times.

One of the items that surprised us on their menu was a “pint of bacon”. Yep, you heard that right and we are so glad we tried it. The bacon was crispy and flavorful and I think it would make a bomb BLT. Everything we tried was delicious, the staff speaks highly of the short rib flatbread and the pizza is amazing! The food and fun doesn’t stop there! The bar has a wide range of entertainment. They are set to have dueling pianos once a month, live music, and the possibility of wine/scotch tastings. The Pub also plans to open up an outdoor seating area soon, making it a perfect place to hang. The one downfall of the Pub is that they’ve been packed recently which is great for them but seating is limited, so come early if you want to grab a table.

The crowd that we have seen at the Pub seems to be a great mix of different ages, making it a spot for everyone. Plus it’s great to see the huge showing of support from the local community for a local business. With the NCAA March Madness tournament going on they are taking a little music break but will pick back up soon! Their grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th.  Doors will open at 4pm, they will have live music and are working on setting up a beer garden on their patio. The Poplar Pub is open Tuesday-Thursday 4pm-Midnight, Friday-Saturday 4pm-3am, & Sundays 12-10pm.  Check out the Poplar Pubs full menu online and to stay up to date on their entertainment schedule by following them on Facebook.
