Oh My GOURD! Fall is supposedly upon us and that brings more outdoor festivals and gatherings.  This weekend we’ve got our Downtown First Friday Event “Flashback Friday”, 7th and Elm is hosting a Puppies & Pints event with the Terre Haute Humane Society, and WaterTower Estates is celebrating their 1st anniversary with food trucks, music, and wine!

Friday, September 7th

Every First Friday, enjoy dinner features created by Executive Chef, Amanda Shook. The Clabber Girl Bake Shop Cafe will close at regular hours of 3PM and Chef’s Night will begin at 6PM and only our chef created dinner entrees will be available. No reservations needed. Cash bar available!

The festival runs Friday, Saturday, & Sunday in downtown Arcola, Illinois.A weekend of fun! BBQ teams follow the KCBS turn in times, awards will be given that evening, time TBA, Open to the Public, bring your lawn chairs
10am – 6pm Festival hours for vendors, winery will be open from 10am to 11pm for wine tastings.
8-11pm – Music from The Marlinaires Band – Open to all ages, and no cover charge.

Sunday Sept 9th
BBQ teams will head home, but Vendors, Food & Music will be from Noon – 5pm with Music from 1-4 with Russ Howard.

On September 7th, 2018 the Multicultural and Programs Division of Student Affairs at ISU will host a “Pride Picnic ” at Wolf Field on campus for all walks of life to enjoy.

On September 8th, 2018 the Multicultural and Programs Division of Student Affairs at ISU will also host a “Pride Carnival ” from 12-4pm. Parking will be provided by ISU and will be hosted at Wolf Field on ISU’s campus! September First Friday will celebrate the non-profits in our community at 5pm. Organizations are representing their cause and agency with booths downtown decked out for our Flashback Theme. Each group has the chance to win $200 for their organization; the crowd will be judging on best booth. Competition was tight last year. Classic cars, motorcycles and other vehicles will also be Cruisin’ the Bash and will park at the Vigo County School Corporation parking lot. No pre-registration. Register that night and support DTH for $20. You’ll get a great tumbler too. Across the street in the SkyGarden Plaza will be an unveiling of a Hall of Fame Musicians sculpture. Along with a performance you won’t want to miss!And as always museums, shops, restaurants and local businesses will welcome the community to experience everything downtown has to offer!First Friday continues in September in Sullivan, Indiana with a Block Party Friday, September 7th from 5-9pm. Do you have ideas for stories or personal narratives you want to capture on the page? Whether you want to write personal narratives, record your family history, or write a work of fiction, this two-part course will help you take the ideas you’ve been thinking up and put them down on paper.

Modern Charm is hosting a Writing 101 Class this Sunday hosted by Leah Singer at 2pm. In the first class, we will talk about how to start the process of writing. Students will leave with a focus, tools to help them write, and an assignment for the next session. In the second class, participants will have an opportunity to share their written work in a workshop environment. We will discuss writing problems and obstacles, and talk about a plan for continuing to develop your writing project.

This is a two-day workshop. You will register for either: Wed., August 29 and Thurs., Sept. 13, 6 – 8 p.m. OR Sundays, Sept. 9 and Sept. 30, 2 – 4 p.m.
