What to do this Weekend

What To Do This Weekend 9.25-9.27

Friday, September 25th

Eat in the Streets is still happening! Go before it gets too cold to sit outside, you won’t regret it. On a side note: Roly Poly, J. Gumbos, & Crossroads Cafe are all only open for lunch. Chavas & J. Gumbos do not have picnic tables set up outside, just their patio seating.

The Cory Apple Festival takes place Friday, Saturday, & Sunday.

The Cory Volunteer Fire Department and the Cory Community will be presenting the 51st Annual Cory Apple Festival, September 25, 26 & 27, 2020. Featured meals at the Firehouse include a Jonah Fish Fry and Chicken Noodle Dinner. During the weekend there will be a Cornhole Tournament, Car and Motorcycle and live music. All around town you will find plenty of Crafts, Flea Markets, Antiques, Yard Sales and Food Booths.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no children’s activities, festival pageant or parade. There will be Dine-in and Carry-out available for the Fireman’s breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning. We will also be offering Dine-in, Carry-out and Drive-thru for our Jonah Fish Fry and Chicken Noodle Dinners.

Booth space is still available for anyone interested in having a craft, flea market, antique or food booth. To reserve your spot, contact Lana Hendrix at 812.236.3735.

A little extra help is always useful when it comes to community dinners. Anyone with some extra time to lend a hand with serving, preparing and clean-up for the Fish Fry or Chicken Noodle Dinner. We would love to have the help. Also, we would like to call upon all the fine bakers in the area that would be willing to donate pies to be sold along with the meals during the weekend.

Saturday will be the annual Car and Motorcycle Show. The show will run from Noon to 4pm. Judging will end at 2pm and Awards presented at 4pm. There will be cash drawings held every half hour and DJ music all afternoon. Pre-registration is $10 due by Sept. 15. All pre-registers will receive a t-shirt, dash plaque and be entered into a drawing for a free entry for the 2021 show. Registration will be $13 the day of the show. The event is organized by Charlie Tipton. He can be reached at 812-446-2612 or [email protected]
