We’ve compiled a list of things to do this weekend not related to 4th of July celebrations, so if you are interested in fireworks and freedom festivals be sure to check out of special post for those activities. As for the rest of you, we’ve got you covered on all other bad ass American activities!

Friday, June 29th

Don Morris is a bit of a local legend in the music industry. He has played for crowds both large and small! A Terre Haute native, Don has captivated a musical following of all ages! Water Tower Estates presents: Don Morris on Friday at 6pm. Enjoy a relaxing evening, a glass of wine, and live music! The Indiana Theatre presents, a 1920s horror/suspense film, Viridian.

Rated PG-13 for supernatural plot elements and minor jump scares.

Viridian tells the story of a vaudeville actress navigating the ethical repercussions of pretending to communicate with the dead for easy money.

Produced throughout Summer 2017, Viridian’s setting consists of many familiar locations including the Vigo County Historical Museum, the Sycamore building, Saint Mary of the Woods College and the Indiana Theatre. Starring professional actors Emily Durchholz and Kevin Roach, Viridian also features local community favorites such as Lester McGee, Amber Wigington and Jennifer Vela.

Doors open at 5:30pm for press and photography then at 6:00pm to the public. General admission is $15 and seniors/students are $12. There will be an opening musical performance before the screening with an end-time of 9:00pm. Come dressed as either formal, 1920s period, or as your favorite Wizard of Oz character.Goshorn Park in Clay City is hosting a Carnival this Saturday & Sunday at 6pm.  Be sure to come out and buy your tickets to ride the rides at the carnival.

Rock your way into the weekend during the wildly popular Zoolapalooza concert series! This year, our concerts are getting bigger and better than ever. Eat, drink, dance and be merry for an additional night under the Bicentennial Pavilion. This incredibly fun night out is a great way to kick off summer weekends on Friday evenings.

Zoolapalooza days are the perfect time to enjoy the Zoo. Concerts are included with Zoo admission and free for Zoo members, so you can play all day and dance all night! The after-hours ambience offers a Zoo trip like no other. Animals and rides will be available until 7pm so the whole family can enjoy the full Zoo experience without missing a beat.

The June 29 performance features Groove Essential. Get ready for a high-energy performance with Groove Essential and their six-person vocal spin on the greatest to the latest hits.

Great specialty food stations feature a new menu for purchase each night. This week, enjoy Indiana Pork Tenderloins, a Farm-to-Table Salad Bar and Sugar Cream Pie!Join Metazoa Brewing Company for their FIRST EVER fundraising event!

The National Bank of Indianapolis presents the Summer Nights Film Series, where you can watch movies under the stars every weekend at Newfields. Doors open at 7 pm, when you can enjoy a picnic dinner, music, and activities, followed by that night’s movie, which will begin when twilight turns to night (usually 9:30 pm). Over the summer, 19 movies will be shown—everything from black-and-white classics to modern blockbusters.

All you need is a picnic (with non-alcoholic beverages only), chairs (for the back row of each tier), and blankets (in case the chair row is full). Oh, and sunscreen and bug spray. No alcohol, pets, candles taller than 12 inches, or knives permitted. And if you want to travel light with just a chair and blanket, King David Dogs and Sun King Brewing Company will be there with franks and craft beers, respectively, to purchase.

This season’s lineup features partnerships with Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival , IBE (Indiana Black Expo, Inc.) Film Festival, and Heartland Film.

Pre-show programming is part of the Newfields’ ARTx Series made possible by a gift from The Efroymson Family Fund. Sun King Brewing Company is the official brewery for this program.

The AmphitheaterPurgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana is hosting a White Out Wine Dinner this Friday t 6:30pm. This is a four-course dinner with four wine pairings for $40 a person. They will be kicking off summer with a Pinot Grigio wine tasting! Taste the difference between California, Washington State, Italian and New Zealand Pinot Grigio. A representative from Republic National Distributors will be on hand to discuss the versatility of this varietal. Patio seating (weather permitting) available to the first 40 to sign up!

Saturday, June 30th

Join Mallow Run Winery for a fun weekend of food, music and all things BLUEBERRY! They’ll release their special Blueberry Wine & Blueberry Hard Cider – pair them with great live music, yummy food truck eats, and lots of summer fun. The Red, White, & Blueberry festival will be held Saturday & Sunday beginning at 12pm.

Kris Anderson is a Country Music Artist who has a talent for creating memorable and meaningful connections with his audience. In 2013 he won the Hi-99 Texaco Showdown. Most recently Kris released his debut EP produced by Last Day Productions. The music video of the title track, “This Old Farm”, was nominated for video of the year in 2017 at the Josie Music Awards in Nashville. It has now received over 600,000 views and garnered positive comments from Farmers around the world.

Indiana’s Nic Strain started his musical career at the age of thirteen playing drums in his Grandpa’s Band. He then stepped out from behind the kit to develop himself into a strong Singer/Songwriter. Nic has recently released his Debut EP, “You Got It”, along with two music videos in support.

Country Music Artist Sammi Jo Acres first understood the power of music when she was just two years old and her grandpa brought her to the front of his church to sing “Jesus Loves Me”. From that moment on Sammi Jo knew music was her calling. Sammi Jo has a unique blend of traditional and modern vocals that sets her apart by appealing to every generation and genre of music lover. Winning over audiences and competing in regional singing competitions has given Sammi Jo the motivation to move forward with her musical career. With the love and support of her family and friends, she will be recording original material with the Last Day Productions Team.June Under The Vines event takes place at the Wine Gardens this Saturday in Clinton, Indiana.
