Event Details

For the twelfth consecutive year, the Athenaeum Foundation is hosting a celebration of German heritage and its contributions to modern Hoosier culture. The 12th Annual GermanFest has been revamped to continue the event amidst COVID-19. This event, scheduled to take place from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, will be a German style farmers market and features free admission!

To keep the event’s popular Weiner Dog Races we have modified the event to be virtual. Whether you’re attending GermanFest or participating from home, attendees will be able to watch the virtual wiener dog races on our social media channels though out the day. Winners will be crowned at GermanFest!

Entertainment will be provided by Indy Polkamotion and the Liederkranz Brass Band.

Health and safety protocol is as follows:
1. Face masks are required and must be worn covering the nose and mouth.
2. Maintain a safe distance of at least six feet from others.
3. Follow the one-way path through the market.
4. Do not stop or gather in the walkways.
5. Walk behind any line formed at a booth rather than through it.
6. The dining area capacity is reduced. Please limit your time there so others may use it as well.
7. Use credit/debit instead of cash if possible.
8. Hand washing and hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the market.
9. Hand sanitizer is available at each booth.
10. Please be patient and kind.
