Drink of the Month: The Vampire Kiss

This month we chose to feature a cocktail inspired by the upcoming holiday, Halloween.  I’ve had a crush on vampire’s ever since Trueblood & Twilight made them down right sexy.  The Vampire Kiss is a red fruity cocktail with a hint of shimmer, for Edward Cullen’s sake. It can be served as a martini in a chilled glass or with ice, enjoy!

Viniq liqueur is a fusion of vodka, moscato, and natural fruit flavors.  It is the perfect liqueur to add shimmer to this vampire inspired cocktail.  It is really hard to find around town, Bourbon & Canal seemed to be the only liquor store in the area carrying it.

If fruity cocktails aren’t your thing, then I found the perfect substitute.  Spider Bite Beer Co.  is based out of Long Island. Spider Bite Beer Company was conceived back in 2008 by founders and friends Larry Goldstein and Anthony LiCausi after a summer of too many bug bites. During the past year Spider Bite has released a number of beers from the Pale Ale family, stouts, saisons and a very well received Wee Heavy. In their first year of business, Robert’s Spider Wee Heavy, coupled with their Eight Legged RyePA and Boris the Spider Russian Imperial Stout, earned them the 2012 FX Matt Memorial Cup for “Best Craft Brewery” in NY State.

I hope you enjoy these drinks as much as I did making & taste testing them. Whether you are celebrating Halloween at a party, at the bar, or at home this year, please remember to be safe and always have a designated driver. Have a Happy Halloween!

-M.
