Drink of the Month

Drink of the Month: Boozy Chai Latte

We’ve been hit with an onslaught of snow, ice, and below zero temperatures the last few weeks.  And while we’re all bundling up when going outside, we could all use a little help warming up when inside.  So, for the first Drink of the Month for 2018 what better way to warm you from head to toes than with a Spiked Chai Latte!?

Spiked Chai Latte Ingredients

If you haven’t caught on by now, I LOVE spices!  October comes around and it’s socially acceptable to talk everything spice (notice I did not say pumpkin).  So I take full advantage for as long as I can by using fresh spices as often as possible.  We’ve got all my favorites in this one – CINNAMON, CLOVES, AND NUTMEGOH MY!

Chai Tea Spice Mixture

With a little additional help from my second favorite’s cardamom and black pepper we send the flavor in this chai tea over the moon.  We start out with chai tea bags and use our spices, fresh ginger and some brown sugar to up the spice level.  If you are in a true bind, you can skip steeping the tea with all of the additional spices and supplements with an additional 2 bags of chai black tea.  HOWEVER, I’d strongly suggest you didn’t and try the recipe out as is.

All Ready to Simmer & Steep

A latte isn’t a latte however without steamed milk, and you don’t need an espresso maker to do it!  Gently simmering the milk in a small pot, then adding in your orange liqueur.  You can use an immersion blender or hand steamer to froth the milk.  Gently pour it over your chai tea, and you’re in business!  Now, just because we’ve got you covered with a spiked cocktail, if you’re looking to just make an insanely good latte you can omit added the spice rum when steeping the tea and leave out the orange liqueur before frothing the milk.

Time to Enjoy!
