We hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day with their S.O. and just because the holiday is over, doesn’t mean you can’t love on BAE on year round.  This weekend we have some events you and your sweetie can attend guaranteed to be better than sitting at home.

Friday, February 16th

Join the Alliance of the Swope as they present Todd Stokes. Native to Terre Haute and ISU grad Todd Stokes is co-manager and design artist at The Golden Frame in Terre Haute. He also works in his art studio in Dennison, IL where he re-imagines the rural landscape. This talk is free and open to the public, he will be speaking from 12-1 so you are welcome to bring your lunch with you.

Perfect for Valentine’s Day weekend, bring your sweetheart to this powerful and exciting musical performance! With songs from their new album, “The Art of the Love Song,” The Annie Moses Band promises to create a night you won’t forget. This talented ensemble has been inspiring and entertaining audiences for more than a decade with their captivating blend of bluegrass, folk and classical sounds. They have graced the stages of Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry and left audiences always wanting more. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity! Ballet Theatre of Indiana and Sun King Brewing Co. will once again team up to present Beer & Ballet, a collection of works by BTI dancers and Indianapolis based choreographers. This year, all of the dance suites will have a common thread: pop music. Come join BTI for a Valentine’s Day weekend of Elvis, Queen, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, some flying cupid aerialists, and, of course, beer.

Join Mike, Mark, & Tim of Acoustic Crowe this Friday night to have some fun, hear some tunes, and toss back a few cold ones!  The band will be live at Archie’s Sports Bar at 8pm.

This year’s Virginia Avenue Music Festival is the largest music festival in the state of Indiana happening from May 9-13. On February 16th at Square Cat Vinyl, the lineup for the festival will be unveiled featuring over 120 acts from around the country. In addition to revealing the lineup, we will be featuring four performers that will be playing the festival. The lineup for the evening is as follows:

8 PM – Lucy Furr
9 PM – Charlie Ballantine
9:30 PM – Unveiling of the Lineup
10 PM – Allison Victoria
11 PM – DysFUNKtion Brass

This Friday & Saturday night in Terre Haute is going to be LIT! Pfreak Show is back at Als Sports Bar in Imperial Lanes and they are going to ROCK THE HOUSE for a 2-night event.  If you live in the area and have never attended a concert of theirs, SHAME ON YOU! You will not regret going, there is a small cover charge (usually $7) and the band goes on at 10.  Come early for a spot up front where you’ll be guaranteed a plethora of guitar picks to rain down upon you.

Jumping into a frozen lake, river, or other body of water in the middle of winter may seem like a crazy idea, but over the past 19 years, thousands upon thousands of Special Olympics Indiana supporters have risen to the challenge, braved the elements, and made our annual Polar Plunge a huge success. In the winter of 2017, they set all-time high when more than 3,200 plungers took part in our signature fundraiser and brought in over $750,000 to support year-round programs and events for our athletes. But with your help, the 2018 Polar Plunge Season will be our biggest and best yet!

This Saturday at ISU, supporters in Terre Haute will be “Freezin” for a Reason this winter as Special Olympics Indiana’s signature fundraiser comes to campus!  Visit HERE to register, donate, or learn more about the ISU Polar Plunge. This Saturday morning is Beer & Yoga at the Terre Haute Brewing Company.  Beginning at 10am there will be yoga in the velvet room followed by a free beer afterwards.  It’s a great way to start your morning and no workout is complete without a reward, a beer reward!  Class is $10, bring your own yoga mat, and arrive early for registration and to snag a good spot.  Check out Heather’s most recent post about the class for more information.

The Indiana State University Sycamores Men’s Basketball team takes on the Southern Illinois Salukis this Saturday at 2pm at Hulman Center.

Come sweat it out with NapTown Fitness at Sun King Brewing Company for a good cause!

All proceeds will go to benefit local non-profit, Growing Places Indy. Coach Kendra Goranson from NapTown Fitness will lead you through a fun 45-minute SWIFT workout. NapTown SWIFT is a NapTown Fitness program that stands for Sweat with Indy for Time. It is intended to get you moving, sweating, and smiling. This boot camp style bodyweight workout is sure to get your Saturday morning started off the right way.

Be sure to stay post workout to enjoy some Sun King brews in their tasting room! This event is open to 21+ only. The cost of this class is only $10 – additional donations are greatly appreciated.

They are a sister-in-law duo from central Indiana. They met in the music department at Indiana State University and ironically became sisters two years later. Erin plays guitar and reigns the “miss” of the duo, while Sharea plays ukulele and flute, holding the title of “Misses.” They are excited to share our passion for music with others.

WaterTower Estates Presents Travis Dillon! Travis is a talented artist from Terre Haute, and is currently touring on cruise ships. He plays a variety of genre’s on acoustic guitar, harmonica, and sings! This is a talent you wont want to miss!

They are lucky enough to have Travis for three dates in February, so if you cant make one be sure to check out the next! Travis goes on at 5pm.

And of course the wine! They will have a rotating supply of wine slushies so keep an eye out for their newest flavors!

The Brickhouse Dueling Pianos are making their THIRD annual appearance at the Sullivan Civic Center on Saturday, Februrary 17th!! Doors open at 7pm. The event will begin at 7pm with M. Watson Band, followed by a very entertaining performance by the Dueling Pianos out of Indianapolis. Heavy hor d’oeuvres, tea, and lemonade are included in ticket price. Cash bar will be available, must be 21 to attend. Tickets will be available in advance starting in December. You can purchase your tickets at Sullivan Bowling Lanes, Suzanne Gorgas State Farm and Sullivan City Hall, Petty Pit Stop, and online. You won’t want to miss out on this night full of music, dancing, and fun!

Treat yourself to a 75 minute Restorative Yoga practice by attending Yoga at the Toga, using all the Yoga props and incorporating essential oils into this ultra relaxation style yoga experience. This Sunday at 11:30 am at Saratoga.

Bring a yoga mat if you have one as all other props will be provided.

The practice will be followed by a light plant based luncheon.
