5 Drinks to Ring in the New Year

2017 is coming to a close, and there is no better way to ring in your New Year than with the perfect cocktail!  Whether you need this New Years to drink away your woes from 2017 or celebrate the start of another AMAZING year.  New Year’s Eve should be a night of dancing, laughing, delicious food, and tasty cocktails to cheer to!  Though I always love a good excuse to get dressed up and go out, New Year’s Eve is a perfect time to break out your hosting skills, mix up some drinks, and invite the friends over.  Hosting can be stressful, especially if you’re not sure what to serve.  We’ve got you covered with a list of fun and exciting cocktails that are sure to impress all your guests!

Pomegranate Champagne Punch

Pomegranate Champagne Punch

Let’s talk pomegranates, these beautifully colored orbs are filled with arils.  Each aril contains juice along with the edible seed.  Pomegranates can contain up as many as 1,400 seeds…that is 1400 potential flavor bombs in each pomegranate!  But I’m rambling about pomegranates when that isn’t the only amazing ingredient this drink has going for it.  You know which ingredient I’m talking about right?  Champagne…and if you don’t have CHAMPAGNE going for your New Year’s Eve Party, you ARE NOT doing New Year’s Eve right!!  Paired with fresh lemon zest and mint leaves, once you try this you’ll want to find more causes for celebration!

Plum & Thyme Prosecco Smash

Plum & Thyme Prosecco Smash

This is an amazing and fun twist if you’re looking for a sparkling cocktail to serve your guests.  I love using stone fruits in my drinks during the winter time, and with this recipe you can change up the fruit based off your preference (give pears, apricots, or apples a try)!

Apple Cider & Rum Punch

Apple Cider & Rum Punch

Need a sophisticated cocktail for a crowd?  This Apple Cider and Rum Punch is your new go-to!  With classic combinations like aged rum, vermouth, and bitters.  This masterpiece combines dry hard apple cider to makes it the perfect addition to any old world New York themed New Year’s Eve Party.  Even better, you can make this drink a day in advance, just add in the apple slices, zest, and cider right before your guests arrive.

Ginger Peach Moscow Mules

Ginger Peach Moscow Mule

I love Moscow Mules, and because I’ve already told you guys how much I love stone fruits in the winter, I just couldn’t resist sharing this one with you guys.  I might find the fresh peach puree in the recipe divine, but what really sends this drink over the top is the fresh ginger root that is added to the puree.  Mules are a refreshingly great drink to share with friends at a smaller gathering.  The puree can be made in advance, so you can skip having to worry about all the prep and just enjoy the evening with friends.

Beer!

Okay, so it’s not a cocktail.  But did you think that I would just forget about the beer lovers out there??  Not a chance.  And while hosting a party, you might still tell your guests to BYOB, there’s no reason you can’t have a few beers on hand for that one friend that always forgets to bring some.  Bon Appetit has a pretty fun line up of different sparkling beers to try for your adventurous beer drinking friends.  But if you’re feeling less inclined to go too crazy with the beer selection, I’ve got a list of some local crafts and IPA you should give a try!
